I received an email from Wilma Fields, the Benton County Coordinator for the Arkansas Gravestones Project via the ARWASHIN Rootsweb Mailing List. They are planning a cemetery photographing event for October 13th that will include Friendship Cemetery in Springdale. If you have time and are interested, the following is the information from that email:
Mark your calendars – October 13th.
Volunteers of the Arkansas Gravestones Project will be gathering to photograph 2 of the largest cemeteries in Benton County, Oak Hill in Siloam Springs and Washington County, Friendship just outside of Springdale City Limits. We have permission from both cemeteries and both are pleased we are coming to photograph. Anyone interested in helping to photograph are welcome to join us, and if you have never done this, but would like to join us, we will be more than happy to help you with any questions, tips, etc.
Friendship is somewhere in the area of 40 Acres or more, and Oak Hill is probably close to that so we need lots of volunteers to cover both of these. If you are available to photograph, but are unsure if you will have the time to upload photos, this is not a problem. We will make arrangements to get the photos from you and find help uploading them. The photographer is ALWAYS given credit for thwir photos.
Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP by Oct 1st so we know how much food to buy! We are still searching for a pavilion for our picnic. We tentatively have the small pavilion at Twin Springs Park in Siloam Springs, but are still researching other places. Suggestions welcomed.
The last group shoot in Crawford Co. had 28 volunteers. So far we have 12 committed to photograph at the October Group Photo Shoot.
Please consider spending your weekend with us.
